What's My Body Shapeshape wizard

About What's My Body Shape

What's My Body Shape is a guided, step-by-step body shape calculator. Answer one measurement question at a time -- units, sex, bust or chest, waist, hips, and a couple of optional extras -- and get a shape result with the exact ratios and thresholds that produced it, not a vague personality-quiz-style guess.

Where the classifications come from

The five/six-shape system (hourglass, pear, inverted triangle, rectangle, apple, and the spoon variant) is the common proportional classification used across fashion and fitness style guides -- it is not a medical or anthropometric standard, and different publishers use different percentage cutoffs for the same shape names. This site's cutoffs are stated as named constants and shown on every result and shape page, so you can see exactly what produced your result and where the line sits.

The waist-to-hip ratio calculator uses the World Health Organization's published reference cutoffs (0.85 for women, 0.90 for men) from its 2008 expert consultation report -- the one number on this site with an actual clinical source, though still a population screening heuristic rather than an individual diagnosis. The somatotype estimator uses a popular wrist-to-height frame-size heuristic common on fitness and sizing sites, mapped onto the ectomorph/mesomorph/endomorph labels as a rough shorthand -- it is not William Sheldon's original anthropometric method and is not a scientific classification.

How to use the results

Treat every result as a proportional description for dressing purposes, not a verdict on your body. A reading close to a threshold is a genuine judgment call -- the wizard shows the exact percentages so you can see how close. Measurement technique matters more than most people expect; see the measurement guide before trusting a surprising result.

What this site doesn't do

It doesn't store what you enter, require an account, or give medical, nutritional, or fitness advice. These are standard, published proportional formulas, not a personalized assessment or a substitute for guidance from a doctor, dietitian, or stylist.
